The Variety of Life on Planet Earth

A local bobcat visits my camera trap on the edge of civilization high up in the Santa Monica Mountains overlooking the Bay. As I explore the remote canyons and ridges in the rugged landscape, I notice many similarities between my camera traps and the robotic rovers exploring the surface of Mars.

Comet the Cougar Appears in the Night

This young cougar appeared on my trail cam ‘like a comet in the night sky’ on Thanksgiving. Hopefully “Comet” will survive and thrive in the mountains above Los Angeles.

Amazing Creatures on Planet Earth

Mountain Lion Above Santa Monica Bay

 

As I continue my foray into camera trapping some amazing creatures on planet Earth, I was recently thrilled to discover this magnificent mountain lion living on the edge of civilization peacefully co-existing with people in the foothills of the Santa Monica Mountains. She could possibly be the same lion I encountered in person one special winter afternoon in January 2013.
